The Backstory: I was writing episodes of a slightly zany tale called Pinrut the Turnip Boy and posting them on my website. I had no intention to make these posts into a book. Then I received an email from Chris Connell. He was teaching children English at Greentree Elementary in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, and wanted to share with me how much his 4th and 5th grade students loved this tale. Well, praise is a great thing to get you going! So I kept writing and, in the spirit of Pinrut, sent him on his journeys to Alberta where he ended up creating havoc in Mr Connells classroom at Greentree Elementary! After the book was published I sent them copies for their library and the children sent me letters and drawings. Here they are as a slideshow.
PS - recently I received another email from Chris. He tells me that in the following years Pinrut has been just as popular as ever with his students. Thanks for staying in touch, Chris!
